Year dedicated to Paint

|

Currently in the studio there are paintings in progress around the theme of the circle and spiral. This subject is neither contemporary nor new, but the observation and capturing of these patterns has not yet ceased to fascinate me. I see these paintings as simple reminders of the treasure, the magnificence that surrounds us and that we are.

We are all equally valid and worthy in this universe. Plants can not voice an opinion about their threatened environment. Many just become quietly extinct as their habitat disappears.

I will be dedicating this year to painting and drawing, through engaging in a Post Graduate Diploma program at UCT's Michaelis School of Fine Art.

My theme will be "Environmental critique in Contemporary Painting"

It is my intention to keep writing this blog to try and follow what happens to my work and to me while I go through this process. I suspect my writing style will change considerably. : )
